October 2015.

In collaboration with Prof. Dietrich Rebholz-Schuhmann of NUI Galway’s Insight Centre for Data Analytics, I am currently recruiting for a PhD position in model-driven data analytics, applied to the biomedical domain.

The research will focus on new analytical methods in a Bayesian probabilistic framework, in the biomedical domain. The work will exploit both a semantic web knowledge graph and relevant mathematical models. It may be applied to the prediction of states for cells, tissues and more complex regulatory processes.

The position carries a tax-free scholarship of €18,000 per year plus fees, for up to 4 years.

Send applications by email to myself and Prof Rebholz-Schuhmann and put "PhD Position in data modelling and simulation" in the subject line. Candidates are requested to submit (1) a cover letter explaining your intentions, and (2) a CV (in PDF format) giving details on your academic degrees, working experiences and IT skills (maximum 2 pages). It is difficult but still advantageous, if you can write a paragraph (e.g. in the cover letter, or extra), about what ambitions in the PhD position appeal most to you.
