July 2016: 3 New PhD Scholarships and 1 Senior Postdoc Post

I am currently recruiting up to three PhD students and one senior postdoctoral researcher to engage in research in a new Horizon 2020 project called ROCSAFE, that we are coordinating in the National University of Ireland Galway.

All of the research will involve theoretical advances in machine learning and data mining, applied to an important real-world challenge of fundamentally improving how events involving chemical, biological, radiation/nuclear or explosive materials are assessed, and ensuring the safety of crime scene investigators.

The research is expected to involve development of new algorithms for probabilistic reasoning over time, for routing and control of autonomous airborne and ground-based vehicles, and for context-aware decision support driven by sensor data analytics.

These are excellent opportunities to engage in research and software development, working in a flexible and stimulating research environment on an important problem, while collaborating with academic and industrial partners across Europe.
